The Idle Dollar Problem

The modern dollar system is stable, but inefficient. It offers safety, but not participation.

  • In the traditional system, banks and funds invest deposits and capture the yield for themselves.

  • In the digital system, stablecoins like USDC and USDT made dollars borderless but kept them economically static.

So, while billions can now hold dollars onchain, none share in the value those dollars produce. This is the Idle Dollar Problem — a world where money moves faster than ever but remains unproductive.

Hamilton’s purpose begins here:

To transform the dollar from a passive store of value into an active engine of global productivity.
